Persian Lime
Citrus latifolia
The Persian seedless lime ranges from light to dark green and is larger and less sour than its cousin with seeds, making it more popular in international markets. The fruit grows on trees that typically grow in tropic climates, though they can also flourish in sub-tropical climates. The trees produce fruit throughout the year, with the climate determining how regularly and abundantly they flower. Production therefore alternates between periods of abundance and periods of lower yields. For countries lying in the northern hemisphere, such as Mexico, peak production is between May and November. Sizes also vary depending on the seasons and rainfall. The sizes represent the number of fruit per box.
